This quarter’s employee spotlight is Norm Guy, the Warehouse Supervisor at our Fort Wayne West location.
How long have you been with Interstate Cold Storage (ICS)?
I have been with the company for 18 years now.
Can you tell us what your job entails?
I’m responsible for overseeing the daily activities of all warehouse workers at the ICS Fort Wayne West location.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
In five years, hopefully, I’m retired by then. At the very least, I would like to have worked my way up to a management position here at ICS.
What’s the best advice you can give to someone who just started in the cold storage industry?
Stay focused on your performance and take it one day at a time. It’s a very cold working environment, so it’s very important to remain focused throughout the day.
What’s the most exciting thing you are working on right now?
Service truck times and valve safety. I would also say one of the more exciting parts of my job is working with my crew, on both 1st and 2nd shifts.
What are the toughest challenges you’ve had at work?
I would say just becoming a productive member for the company.
What year did you start with ICS?
I first started working for ICS in 2004 here in Fort Wayne.
What has your experience been with our company culture?
It’s been a great experience. The company really goes above and beyond to accommodate its employees.
What are some things you’ve noticed about our leadership team?
The leadership team is very positive. They are always trying to improve both the warehouses and the business in general.
What have been your biggest accomplishments on our team?
Stepping up, being a leader and not a follower. Working together as a team to accomplish goals.
What’s the most unique part about working here?
Being consistent in my responsibilities at work.
