Interstate offers bulk storage for long‑term or high‑volume inventory and distribution‑style storage for higher‑velocity, pick‑and‑ship operations; many of our sites support a hybrid of the two so you can balance cost and service. This allows you to keep reserve inventory in bulk while staging active SKUs in distribution areas for faster turns.
First, estimate pallet positions: Pallet positions = total cases ÷ cases per pallet (or simply count pallets on hand and forecasted). To approximate cubic feet, multiply the pallet footprint (standard 40×48 in ≈ 13.3 ft²) by your average pallet height and the number of pallets.

Stabilize product temperature before shipping, use sturdy pallets, stretch‑wrap for airflow and load stability, and label each pallet with SKU, lot, and expiration. Provide handling and storage specs (temperature, humidity, stack height), plus any allergen or inspection requirements.
Typically facilities have controlled access and visitor logs, fencing and CCTV, intrusion and fire alarms, and background‑checked staff. Inside the WMS, lot/serial tracking and role‑based permissions protect inventory; many sites also enforce seal verification and trailer security at the dock.
